Moving into a suburb that is still being built
Lawson is one of Canberra’s newest suburbs. The first residential blocks went on sale in late 2013 on what was formerly open grassland between Baldwin Drive and Ginninderra Drive, and parts of the estate are still filling in. Moving into a new build is different from an established street: the house is finished but the neighbour’s block may still be a construction site, the nature strip may not be down yet, and the road can be narrower than it will be once the kerbing is complete.

Interstate from the Belconnen side of Canberra
Lawson sits in the Belconnen district on the northern side of Canberra, so an interstate truck picks up Ginninderra Drive, reaches the Barton Highway and joins the Hume without crossing the city. Sydney loads head north on the Hume, Melbourne loads head south. You can have the truck to yourself with an agreed day at the other end, or split it with another load heading the same direction and pay for the space alone.
