Worker's cottages to warehouse lofts, on the slopes between Hoddle and Smith.

Warehouse lofts and worker’s cottages on the same block
Collingwood sits between Hoddle Street and Smith Street, and the ground rises on a slope between the two. Along Oxford and Cambridge Streets, red-brick warehouses that once housed Foy and Gibson stand next to small Victorian cottages from the suburb’s earliest days. Today many of those warehouses are loft apartments with freight lifts and loading docks, while the cottages still have front doors barely wider than a fridge.
A move from a warehouse loft and a move from a cottage three doors down are completely different jobs, and we price them that way. Give us the building type, the floor, the heavy pieces and both addresses. We choose the truck and crew from there, and a supervisor on the truck controls the loading sequence from first wrap to final box, controlling the loading sequence from first wrap to final box.

Loading around Smith Street and the Route 86 tram
Smith Street runs along Collingwood’s western edge and carries the Route 86 tram all day. There is almost no parking on Smith Street itself, and loading bays fill early. If your move starts or ends near Smith Street, we look at side-street access before quoting so the truck is not stuck behind a tram or double-parked in a clearway.
The streets between Victoria Parade and Alexandra Parade are a mix of one-way lanes and narrow two-way roads with cars parked on both sides. A shorter truck often works faster here than a large one that cannot turn at the end, and the quote reflects the real access rather than just the volume of furniture.

What the crew handles on every Collingwood move
The crew blanket-wraps and plastic-sheaths each item, then straps it inside the truck so nothing moves down the slope toward Hoddle Street. Bed frames, tables and flat-pack wardrobes come apart for loading and go back together at your new address. Our crews are trained by us and follow the same method on every job, and the supervisor on the truck calls the order all day.
Local rates start from $75 per half hour for a two-person crew and a 20 cubic metre truck, and the full list by truck size is on our removalist prices page.

Packing, storage and leaving Collingwood
Small Collingwood flats leave little room to stack boxes the night before, so a packing crew can save you a full day. The team sorts the kitchen and wardrobes, marks each box with its destination room and seals it for a quick load. Boxes, paper and tape are on hand if you want to pack yourself instead. We carry public liability and transit insurance, and it applies to every job we run.
No keys yet? We store your things in a monitored, climate-controlled facility and deliver once the new place is ready. Interstate loads from Collingwood pick up the Eastern Freeway or head south on Hoddle Street to the M1, toward Sydney and Canberra or north to Brisbane. A full truck gives you a guaranteed arrival day, or a backload splits the cost by the cubic metres you actually use.

Let us know both addresses, the level, any bulky or heavy pieces and how the building is accessed. We work out the truck, the crew and the hours, and send you a written price. Estimate the volume yourself with our calculator below. Quoting costs nothing and locks you into nothing.
Every hour saved on sorting, carrying and waiting is an hour off the bill. Have the loading bay or parking spot booked, boxes sealed and labelled, and let us know the lift booking times ahead of the day. Phone 1300 724 553 to talk it over, or send a message through our contact form.

Collingwood moving questions answered

Can you move furniture out of a warehouse loft with a freight lift?
Yes. Collingwood has plenty of converted warehouses along Oxford and Cambridge Streets, and most have a freight lift and a loading dock at ground level. We need the lift dimensions and any booking windows before we quote. If a piece does not fit the freight lift, we plan an alternative route before the day.
How do you handle loading near Smith Street with the tram tracks?
We avoid loading directly on Smith Street because the Route 86 tram runs all day and legal parking is scarce. Side streets like Oxford, Cambridge and Perry Streets usually give better truck access. We sort this out before quoting so the crew starts loading immediately on arrival.
Do you move pool tables downstairs in a Collingwood terrace?
Yes. Pool tables are heavy and need to be pulled apart before they go down narrow stairs, so we quote them separately. Tell us the table size, which floor it sits on and the width of the staircase, and we send the right crew and gear.
What if there is no parking on my street when the truck arrives?
Holding a spot with bins or your car until we arrive helps. On permit-only streets, contact the council for a temporary loading permit. Alternatively we park on a cross street and walk the furniture across. The quote factors in any extra carrying distance.
Can you run a weekend or evening move for a Collingwood office?
Yes. Office moves run at night and on weekends so the business opens Monday morning as normal. We plan the layout with you beforehand, pack files and equipment by location, and reconnect what we can at the new site.
Do I need to supply my own packing materials?
No. We sell sturdy moving boxes, butcher’s paper and tape, and can arrange a packing crew if you prefer not to do it. Sealed, labelled boxes stack tighter on the truck and cut loading time.
