How a Sutherland Shire move works with us
Our Sutherland Shire removalists charge local moves by the hour, so the price follows the job rather than a guess. You tell us the rooms, the big items and both addresses, we pick the truck and crew, and the clock covers loading, the drive and unloading. A two-bedroom unit in Miranda going to a house in Engadine is a different job from a five-bedroom home on the water at Lilli Pilli, and the quote says so before anyone lifts a box.
A supervisor runs every move, sets the loading order and decides what gets wrapped, what comes apart and what goes in last so it comes off first. Beds and dining tables are dismantled and put back together at the new place as part of the job. The truck has to suit the street
Streets in the Shire vary a lot. Cronulla and Caringbah have unit blocks with lift bookings and tight loading bays. Engadine, Menai and Illawong sit on hills, with driveways that drop away from the road. The waterfront pockets around Burraneer and Yowie Bay have long, steep drives with tight turns, and the canal streets at Sylvania Waters are flat but narrow, with little room to turn a big truck. Around the Kingsway and Kirrawee, parking is the problem.
That is why we ask about access before we quote. Where a big truck cannot get close, we send a smaller one or plan the carry so nobody pays for a crew standing around. If your building needs a lift booked or a loading dock reserved, tell us the times and we work the move around them.
What is included on the day
Furniture is wrapped in blankets and plastic before it goes on the truck. Fridges, washing machines and lounges are strapped so nothing shifts on the Princes Highway or on the steep streets around Jannali and Como. Our crews are trained by us and work the same way on every job, so the crew that turns up in Como works the same way as the crew in Gymea.
We carry public liability and transit insurance on every move. If you want boxes, tape and paper, or a packing team to do the kitchen and the wardrobes the day before, add it to the quote.
Leaving the Shire, or arriving in it
Interstate moves out of the Shire cross the Georges River and pick up the M5, then the Hume to Canberra or Melbourne. Brisbane loads run north on the M1 instead. A household leaving Menai for Melbourne can share a truck with another Sydney load and pay only for the space it uses, or take a dedicated truck with a firm delivery day.
If you are moving into the Shire from interstate, we deliver to the door and carry everything to the rooms you point at. If the new place is not ready, we can hold the load in storage and deliver when you have the keys.

How do you charge for a local move within the Sutherland Shire?

Can you handle a long driveway or a house on a slope?
Yes. A lot of the Shire is built on ridges and gullies, from Engadine and Menai out west to the streets that run down to Port Hacking, and the waterfront ones add long driveways with tight turns. We ask about the access up front, choose a truck that can get close, and plan the carry so the crew is moving furniture rather than walking.
Can you move a piano or a pool table?
Yes, both, and they are quoted as their own item because they need extra hands and the right gear. Tell us the type of piano or the size of the table and where it sits in the house, and we plan the crew around it.
What if my new place is not ready when I have to leave the old one?
We hold your load in our climate-controlled storage facility, which is under 24-hour surveillance, and deliver when you have the keys. That can be a few days between settlement dates or several months while you renovate.
Do I have to buy my own boxes?
No. We sell moving boxes, paper and tape, and can add a packing team if you would rather not do it yourself. Sturdy, sealed boxes also load faster, which keeps the hours down on the day.
How much notice do you need for a move in the Shire?
The more the better, especially for end-of-month and school-holiday dates, but call us even if your move is this week. If a truck is free we will fit you in.
