Removalists Lalor
Post-war brick homes moved by crews who know the grid.

Flat streets and wide frontages
Lalor sits 17 kilometres north of the Melbourne CBD, between Darebin Creek to the east and Merri Creek to the west. The suburb began as a post-war housing co-operative for returned servicemen, and the original streets were laid out in a garden-suburb grid with wide frontages and straight kerb lines. That layout means a truck can usually park directly out the front, reverse into the driveway and load without a long carry.
Most homes are three-bedroom brick-veneer houses with a separate garage and a concrete path down the side. Our Lalor removalists walk the floor plan on arrival, decide what needs pulling apart and work out the shortest path from the back rooms to the truck. A supervisor leads every crew and sets the loading order so the heaviest items go on first.

Heading interstate from the northern suburbs
Lalor is close to the Hume Freeway, which is the direct route to Sydney and Canberra. A household leaving a brick three-bedroom on Vasey Street or Station Street for Sydney can share the truck with other Melbourne families and pay for the cubic metres their furniture fills, or book a full truck with a set delivery date. Adelaide loads head west via the Western Ring Road and the Princes Freeway.
Pricing is hourly and quoted after we check the access at each address. Local rates start from $75 per half hour for a two-person crew and a 20 cubic metre truck, and the full list by truck size is on our removalist prices page.

Wrapping, packing and storage
We wrap every piece in blankets and plastic and strap it for the road. Beds, tables and flat-pack wardrobes are pulled apart before they go on the truck and rebuilt at the other end. Public liability and transit insurance covers every move, local or interstate.
Add a packing team to your booking and they turn up with boxes, paper and tape the day before the truck. They label every carton by room. We sell those supplies separately if you prefer to do it yourself. Furniture goes into climate-controlled storage if there is a gap between moving out and moving in, with round-the-clock monitoring. Our team delivers once the new place is ready.

Get a price for your Lalor move
Tell us both addresses, how many bedrooms, any heavy or oversized items, and whether there are stairs at either end. We respond with a price, a truck size and a crew count. Use our calculator below to see a rough volume. The quote is free and carries no obligation.
Pack boxes the night before, empty the drawers, prop the side gate open and hold a spot on the street, and the crew spends less time on the clock. Call 1300 724 553 or fill in the contact form.

Questions about moving in Lalor

How do you quote for a move on a Lalor grid street?
We ask for both addresses, the bedroom count, any heavy or oversized items and whether there are stairs at either end. Because most Lalor streets are flat with wide frontages, the truck can usually park out the front and load directly. No charge for the quote, and it is based on the truck and crew the job needs.
Can you handle a brick home with a large shed out the back?
Yes. A lot of the older brick-veneer homes along Brindisi Street and around Stockade Park have large garages or sheds with tools, workbenches and stored furniture. Tell us what is in the shed so we can allow for it in the truck size and the time estimate.
Do you move on weekends and public holidays?
Yes. We run moves seven days a week, including public holidays. Weekend and end-of-month dates fill up quickly in Lalor, so the earlier you book the better, especially around school holidays.
What happens if the move runs longer than the estimate?
The hourly rate stays the same. Our estimates are based on the rooms, the access and the items you tell us about. Unexpected stairs at the new place, a full shed nobody mentioned or rooms that are not packed can add time, which is why we ask for details before quoting.
How does a backload interstate move work from the northern suburbs?
Your furniture shares a truck with other families heading the same way, and you pay only for the cubic metres it fills. A household on a Lalor grid street loading for Sydney joins a truck heading up the Hume Freeway. We agree on a delivery day before the truck departs.
