Wright sits 13 kilometres west-south-west of Canberra’s CBD in the Molonglo Valley, and most of its housing has gone up since 2012. Truck size and tight estate streets
Wright’s internal streets are wide enough for a standard removals truck, but many of the townhouse courts have tight turning circles and visitor-only parking that fills early in the morning. Some apartment buildings along the main spine route vehicle access through a single ramp to a basement dock, and the lift needs to be booked in a time slot shared with other residents moving the same weekend.
We ask about all of this before the quote. Where a full-size truck cannot park close, we drop to a smaller vehicle or map the carry path so loading stays quick. If the building body corporate sets a moving window or requires a bond, let us know and we schedule around it.
Wrapping, dismantling and the drive to the next address
Furniture is wrapped in blankets and plastic and strapped upright in the truck before we leave Wright. Beds, dining tables and flat-pack wardrobes are taken apart at the old place and reassembled at the new one as part of the job. Canberra’s interstate corridor runs north on the Barton Highway to the Hume, which splits for Sydney or Melbourne. How do you handle apartment moves in Wright's new buildings?
Most of Wright’s apartment blocks have a single basement ramp and a shared lift with timed moving slots. We book the slot, plan the load so the biggest items go first, and keep the crew moving through the window. If the building requires a moving bond or deposit, let us know when you book and we work around the rules.
Is a townhouse with a shared driveway harder to move than a freestanding home?
It depends on the turning circle and where the truck can park. Some Wright townhouse courts let the truck pull right to the garage, others mean a carry down a shared path. We check this before quoting and adjust the crew size or the truck if the carry is longer.
What route does an interstate truck take out of Wright?
The truck heads north from Molonglo Valley to the Barton Highway, which meets the Hume. Sydney-bound loads stay on the Hume north-east, Melbourne and Adelaide loads follow it south-west. We quote a firm delivery day for a dedicated truck or price a shared load by the cubic metres your furniture occupies.
Can you move a single heavy item like a fridge or pool table from Wright?
Yes. Single-item moves are quoted on their own based on the item, the access and the distance. If the fridge needs to come up from a basement garage or the pool table is on the first floor with a tight stairwell, tell us and we plan the carry before we arrive.
What should we do if settlement dates overlap and we need somewhere to keep the furniture?
We collect your furniture, store it in our climate-controlled warehouse under round-the-clock surveillance, and deliver to the new address when you have the keys. Whether the gap is a few days or a few months while a Molonglo Valley build finishes, you only pay for the time your goods are stored.
