Melbourne Eastern Suburbs Removalists

Hourly rates from Kew to Ringwood, with the truck matched to the street.

Where the hills start and the trucks change

Melbourne’s eastern suburbs run from the period homes around Hawthorn and Kew up through the broad family blocks of Balwyn and Doncaster to the foothills near Croydon. Every few kilometres the streets, the blocks and the access change, and so does the truck a move needs. A third-floor apartment near Box Hill Central with a loading-dock booking calls for a different truck and crew than a large family home in Balwyn North where the driveway drops two metres below the road.

Our Melbourne Eastern Suburbs removalists price by the hour. You describe the rooms, the large items and both addresses, we choose the right truck and crew, and the hourly rate covers the whole job from arrival to the last piece in place. A supervisor runs every crew.

Box Hill towers to Blackburn acreage

Box Hill has apartment towers around the station where lift bookings and loading-dock slots control the timing of a move. In Doncaster, townhouse clusters with shared driveways limit the width of truck we can bring in. Surrey Hills and Canterbury have tree-lined streets with cars parked both sides, and a large truck sometimes needs a smaller one to shuttle loads to the nearest safe park.

Camberwell and Kew have period homes with narrow side gates and single-car driveways. Carrying a lounge through a two-storey Edwardian in Mont Albert often means navigating an internal staircase and a side path barely wider than the piece. In Glen Waverley and Vermont the ground rises, and some driveways climb steeply enough that the loading position matters. We check access before quoting so the right truck shows up on the day.

Packing out a period home in the east

Many homes from Hawthorn to Canterbury have original leadlight, ornate cornices and narrow hallways that the crew works around on the day. Every piece of furniture is covered in moving blankets and plastic and strapped tight in the truck so nothing shifts on the way to Ringwood, Nunawading or wherever the new address is.

Beds and dining tables come apart for loading and go back together at the new house. If you want a packing team for the kitchen, the wardrobes or the whole house, add it when you book and they arrive the day before the truck. Boxes, paper and tape are for sale too. We carry public liability and transit insurance on every move, and if the new place is not ready we hold the load in our climate-controlled storage under round-the-clock surveillance until you have the keys.

Interstate loads from the east

An interstate move from the eastern suburbs usually picks up EastLink or the Eastern Freeway to reach the main corridors. Melbourne to Sydney runs up the Hume, Melbourne to Adelaide heads west on the Western Ring Road, and Melbourne to Brisbane takes the Hume then the Newell or the Pacific north of Sydney.

You can book a dedicated truck with a firm delivery day, or share one with another Melbourne load and pay for the space your furniture takes up. Both options get the same wrapping, loading and unloading.

Getting a quote for an eastern suburbs move

Tell us the old and new addresses, the bedrooms, and anything heavy or awkward like a piano or a pool table, and we come back with a truck size, a crew and a price. Local rates start from $75 per half hour for a two-person crew and a 20 cubic metre truck, and the full list by truck size is on our removalist prices page.

An organised house loads quickly and costs less. Have boxes sealed, furniture cleared from the walls, somewhere to park the truck outside and the lift booked if you are in a Box Hill apartment, and the crew moves faster. Call 1300 724 553 or fill in the contact form. No charge for the quote and no obligation.

Why eastern suburbs households book us

Hourly rates that follow the job

The rate is set by the truck and crew your move needs, quoted once we check the access at both ends, so you see how the price is built before you book.

A supervisor on every crew

One person on the truck runs the day, from the loading order at your Kew home to the last box placed at the new address.

Everything wrapped before it moves

Blankets, plastic and straps on every piece of furniture, whether it is crossing a narrow side gate in Hawthorn or riding the truck to a new suburb.

Everything dismantled and rebuilt

Beds, tables and wardrobes come apart for the truck and go back together at the new place, so nothing has to squeeze through a narrow side gate fully assembled.

Melbourne eastern suburbs moving questions

Removalist team preparing for a move

How do you handle the narrow side gates in Hawthorn and Kew?

We measure the gate width and the path before the move. Where the gap is too tight for a trolley, we wrap each piece and carry it through with one person at each end to clear the turns. On a two-storey home in Kew with a side gate under a metre wide, we sometimes carry everything through the house instead, which is slower but safer for the furniture and the walls.

Can a full-size truck fit on the tree-lined streets in Surrey Hills?

It depends on the street and the day. Some streets in Surrey Hills have cars parked both sides, and a long truck blocks traffic. If the truck we quote cannot park safely within carrying distance, we send a smaller one or shuttle with a van and keep the same crew. We sort this out at the quoting stage, not on the morning of the move.

Do you move pianos and pool tables from homes in the eastern suburbs?

Yes, both, and they are quoted as their own item because they need extra hands and gear. A grand piano coming down a staircase in Camberwell is a different lift from an upright on a ground floor in Ringwood, and the quote reflects the access, not just the weight.

What if the settlement on my Balwyn home falls through and I need storage?

We hold your load in our climate-controlled storage, which has round-the-clock surveillance, and deliver when you have the keys. That can be a few days between settlement dates or several months while you renovate. You pay for the space your furniture uses, not a fixed room.

How long does a typical apartment move from Box Hill take?

A one-bedroom apartment with a booked lift and a reserved loading dock usually takes two to three hours from arrival to finish. Add time if the lift is shared with other residents or if the parking is a long carry from the dock. Tell us the building details and we give you a realistic estimate.

They guys did a great job. I didn’t have the most accessible apartment to get things out of, with a very slow lift and several doors to navigate, but the guys just got on with it. They took great care in wrapping all our furniture to protect it. I would highly recommend it. Thanks

Moving is very stressful; I’m glad I chose careful hands and very professional. My unit wasn’t easy to get in and out of, but these guys were awesome and careful with my Furniture; they quickly moved all my stuff. I worked for 7 hours without a break, and they were nice enough to take some of my Furniture upstairs without charging me extra. I am very grateful. I highly recommend these guys, and we’ll use them again. Thank you
